OSRS Herb Runs
Herbs take ~80 minutes to grow. A full route across every unlocked patch is 5–10 minutes of clicking. Profit is (herbs × GE) − seed − compost — not a fixed "200–600k every run." Recalculate when prices move.
Fairy rings for herb runs
Open the world map with fairy ring codes turned on. CIR (Farming Guild), DKS (Weiss), AJP (Ortus / Fortis), DJP, BLR, ALQ, AKR, AJR — click a code, mark your route.
Up to 10 herb patches in OSRS
Disease-free patches (Troll, Weiss with fire, Hosidius diary, Harmony elite, Ortus Champion) ignore this disease roll.
Herbs grow every ~80 minutes (~18 runs max per day)
Cost: 45,000 GP seed + 150 GP compost = 45,150 GP
Net per patch: 22,530 GP × 10 patches = 225,300 GP per run

Hard gates
- Farming level for the seed (Ranarr 32, Toadflax 38, Snapdragon 62, Torstol 85)
- Herb seeds + ultracompost (or charged bottomless compost bucket)
- Spade; seed dibber unless Barbarian Farming is unlocked
- Members — there are no F2P herb patches
Recommended
- Magic secateurs (Fairytale I) — +10% yield while worn
- Fairy Tale II (partial) for fairy rings — see codes on the interactive map
- Disease-free: Troll (My Arm's Big Adventure), Weiss (Making Friends + fire of nourishment), Hosidius (Easy Kourend & Kebos), Harmony (Elite Morytania), Ortus (Champion / 16k Colosseum glory)
- 65 Farming for the Farming Guild herb patch
- Ectophial, Ardougne cloak 2+, Explorer's ring 2+, basalt teleports, Skills necklace
- Ranarr (32) — usual default when prayer potions are hot; check seed cost vs grimy price
- Snapdragon (62) — often competes with Ranarr for restores; seed price is volatile
- Toadflax / Avantoe / Cadantine — lower capital, fine when expensive seeds squeeze margins
- Torstol (85) — plant for overload supply / XP, not because the level looks cool; EV is often worse
Plug current prices into the calculator or GE Tracker. Same herb on every patch unless you have a reason to split.
- Farming Guild — bank, grab seeds/compost, herb patch (CIR)
- Weiss — icy basalt (DKS backup)
- Troll Stronghold — stony basalt
- Catherby → Ardougne → Phasmatys (ectophial)
- Harmony if legs 4 — skip if the boat eats your time
- Hosidius → Falador
- Ortus / Fortis (AJP) when Varlamore is unlocked
Per patch: harvest → note at leprechaun → ultracompost → plant → leave. Pre-composting on the previous run saves inventory and clicks.
- Always: magic secateurs, seeds × patches, ultracompost / bottomless bucket
- Teleports: ectophial, Skills necklace / farming cape, stony + icy basalt, Ardougne cloak, Explorer's ring, Xeric's / Hosidius tele, quetzal / Fortis access
- Optional: fairy ring (Dramen/Lunar unless completed Fairy Tale II), stamina dose, resurrect crops (78 Magic, Arceuus) for diseased patches
- Rake + dibber stay on the tool leprechaun — do not waste slots
- Magic secateurs every run — forgetting them is free money left on the patch
- Ultracompost always; bare dirt on money herbs is a tax on yourself
- Disease-free patches first priority when unlocking content
- Stack birdhouses on the same ~80-minute alarm (birdhouse guide)
- RuneLite farming timers — do not rely on memory
- Plan fairy hops on the map with rings visible
When should I start?
Level 32 Ranarr is enough to make herb runs worth the teleports. More patches beat a slightly better herb on three patches.
Can I pay a farmer to watch herbs?
No — gardeners cannot protect herb patches. Use ultracompost on diseaseable patches, and prioritise disease-free unlocks (Troll, Weiss, Hosidius diary, Harmony elite, Ortus Champion).
Do I need all 10?
No. Four easy patches already print. Each unlock is more EV on the same 80-minute timer.
