About OSRS Item Scramble
A timed anagram game using real tradeable Old School RuneScape item names from the Grand Exchange mapping. Good warm-up if you live in the GE, do clue anagrams, or just want a quick browser puzzle between birdhouse runs.
How to play
- Start a round — a scrambled GE item name appears with a blurred icon.
- Type the real name and submit before the timer hits zero.
- Use hint if stuck; keep a streak of 3+ for bonus points.
FAQ
- Where do the item names come from?
- Tradeable items from the OSRS Wiki Prices mapping API, filtered to readable name lengths (no weird parentheses stacks).
- How long is each round?
- You start with 30 seconds. A correct answer adds 5 seconds (capped at 60). Wrong guesses reset your streak; skipping also resets the streak.
- What does the hint do?
- Hint shows the item’s examine text and halves the points for that solve (5 instead of 10). The icon stays lightly blurred either way.
- Does my high score sync?
- No — it is saved in this browser only (localStorage), same as Higher or Lower and Wordle on this site.
