Mahogany Homes — Budget Training Method

Mahogany Homes Overview

Mahogany Homes is a construction minigame where you repair player houses for contracts. Much slower XP but 85% cheaper than traditional methods. Great for ironmen and budget players.

How it works: Talk to Amy in Falador, get a contract, repair furniture in NPC houses, turn in for XP and points.

When to Use Mahogany Homes

Use Mahogany Homes if:

  • • You're on a tight budget (saves 170M)
  • • Playing an ironman account
  • • Don't mind slower XP rates
  • • Want construction outfit/rewards

Use traditional methods if:

  • • You have 200M+ to spend
  • • Want 99 fast (30-40 hours)
  • • Prefer AFK training
  • • Can afford mahogany planks

Oak Larders Method — Step by Step

How to Train with Oak Larders (33-52)

Build a Kitchen in your POH

You need a Kitchen room to build larders. Build one if you don't have it.

Buy 10k oak planks from GE

~10k oak planks gets you to 52. Cost: ~5M. Also buy noted planks for butler.

Hire a Demon Butler (50 Construction)

Butler fetches planks from bank. Demon butler is fastest (costs 10k per 26 planks).

Build and remove larder repeatedly

Right-click larder space → Build Oak larder. Then right-click → Remove. Repeat for 480 XP each.

Use butler to get more planks

When low on planks, use noted planks on butler to fetch more (26 at a time for 10k).

Pro Construction Tips
•

Boosts matter, but not for everything: Crystal saw (+3) + spicy stew (+5) help jewellery box / pools. Fairy rings cannot use the crystal saw — stew (or tea) only, so 80 Construction minimum for the POH fairy ring.

•

Use Demon Butler: Fastest butler, holds 26 planks. Costs 10k per trip but worth it for speed

•

Rimmington house location: Best location for Portal Nexus access. Move house for 5k at estate agent

•

Building mode hotkey: Set hotkey for "Building mode" in settings for 1-click toggling

•

Oak larders to 52, then mahogany tables: Main speed path. Mounted mythical cape (47 Con, 370 XP, needs DS2) is a cheaper teak method — not a 74+ mahogany peer

Achievement Gallery at 80: Required for jewellery box / occult altar (stew boost from 75)

•

Ornate pool at 90 is game-changing: Restores HP, prayer, run, spec, cures poison/venom. Boostable earlier with saw+stew (from 82).

Portal Nexus costs 30M+ fully loaded: Expensive but worth it. Add portals as you can afford them

Construction is one of the most useful skills in OSRS, providing unlimited teleports, stat restoration, and convenience features through your Player-Owned House (POH). While expensive to train, a maxed house is essential for efficient gameplay. This guide covers the fastest and most cost-effective training methods.

Fast Method: Oak Larders and Mahogany Tables

The fastest way to 99 Construction is building and removing furniture. Train to 33 with crude wooden chairs(2 planks + nails — not oak), then oak larders from 33–52 (480 XP each), then mahogany tables from 52+ (840 XP each). Mounted mythical cape is 47 Construction / 370 XP (3 teak + cape, DS2) as a cheaper teak alternative — not a level-74 peer to tables. With a demon butler, mahogany tables can hit ~800–900k XP/hr.

Budget Method: Mahogany Homes

Mahogany Homes is a minigame where you complete house repair contracts for Construction XP. It's 85% cheaperthan traditional methods (~30M for 1-99 vs 200M) but much slower at 150k-200k XP/hr. Talk to Amy in Falador to start. Best for ironmen and budget players who don't mind the slower pace.

Essential POH Items

Focus on these game-changing items:
Level 72: Portal Nexus — Multi-destination hub (expensive to fill; crystalline at 92).
Level 85: Fairy ring — POH fairy network (no crystal saw boost; stew from 80).
Level 90: Ornate rejuvenation pool — Full combat restore between kills.
Level 90: Occult altar — Spellbook swaps without travelling.
Level 91: Ornate jewellery box — Full jewellery teleports (boostable from 83 with saw+stew).

Boosting high-level furniture

Crystal saw (+3) + spicy stew (+5) let you build ornate jewellery box / ornate pool earlier. Fairy rings cannot use the crystal saw. You do not unlock "everything" at 83 — pool is 90, ornate jewellery box is 91, crystalline nexus is 92.
