Guardians of the Rift — RC XP With Rune Loot

GotR is a Runecraft minigame in the Temple of the Eye. You mine fragments, craft guardian essence, feed the Great Guardian, and dive elemental/catalytic portals for runes. Reward searches need balanced elemental and catalytic points; abyssal pearls buy Raiments of the Eye. Treat early games as outfit farming — GP becomes real once you craft valuable runes with the set.

Skip if: you hate click-intensive RC, or you expect boss-tier GP/hr before Raiments and decent RC level.

Entry
Temple of the Eye

Quest → ~27 RC to play

Pearls
1,350

Full Raiments (~60% more runes)

Requirements

Hard gates

  • Temple of the Eye completed (needs Enter the Abyss + 10 RC; quest XP lands you at the playable RC level)
  • 27 Runecraft to participate (normally granted by the quest)
  • Members world; ability to follow a busy minigame loop for ~8–10 minutes per game

Recommended

  • Essence pouches (small → giant / colossal) — more essence per portal trip
  • Save abyssal pearls for Raiments of the Eye first (hat 400, top 350, bottoms 350, boots 250 = 1,350 total)
  • Higher RC unlocks better catalytic guardians (death, blood, soul) — big for loot value
  • Abyssal needle for colossal pouch when you can afford pearls after the outfit
  • Minigame teleport / amulet of the eye for fast returns
Route / Method

Each game: power the Great Guardian with elemental/catalytic guardian stones, craft runes at open altar portals, keep point types roughly balanced for reward searches.

  1. Enter via minigame grouping or temple portal. Wait for the round to start.
  2. Mine guardian fragments → craft guardian essence at the workbench → deposit into the Great Guardian (elemental or catalytic as needed).
  3. When portals open, enter with pouches full of essence. Craft runes at the matching altar. Prioritise high-value runes you can access, while still feeding stones so the game succeeds.
  4. Place cells / help with guardians as needed for points and game health — mass worlds usually carry; still do not AFK the guardian to death.
  5. After the game, search the Rewards Guardian using elemental + catalytic points (searches consume both). Bank runes. Repeat.

Point rule of thumb: keep elemental and catalytic close so you are not sitting on unusable points. Exact optimal cell/portal meta shifts with RC level — learn one consistent loop before min-maxing.

Inputs & costs
  • Bring: pouches, chisel if needed for fragments, stamina optional on long sessions
  • Earn: crafted runes, reward-table loot, abyssal pearls
  • Spend pearls on: Raiments first, then needle / lantern / ring of the elements as secondary goals
  • Sell: runes and talismans on the GE — check GE Tracker

Pearls are not coins. Their value is the permanent rune yield from Raiments on every future RC method (GotR, lavas, bloods, etc.).

Profit

Money comes from runes you craft in-game plus reward searches (talismans, rune packs, lamps, pearls). Uniques (needle, dyes, abyssal protector) are RNG — do not price them into hourly GP.

  • Pre-outfit / low RC: mostly XP; GP is a side effect
  • Full Raiments + high RC portals: crafted runes can be real income when blood/soul/death are healthy
  • Reward loot variance is high per game; average over dozens of searches
  • Use the GotR calculator for XP/pearl projections; pet odds for abyssal protector dry estimates
Efficiency tips
  • Raiments before vanity dyes — 60% more runes is the whole point
  • Repair pouches (Dark Mage or Cordelia pearl repair) before they degrade mid-portal
  • Balance elemental vs catalytic points so reward searches stay available
  • Fill pouches every portal trip; empty essence left on the floor is wasted XP and GP
  • Learn one portal priority for your level instead of chasing every weak guardian
  • Mass worlds are fine for learning; efficiency is inventory discipline, not world hopping
Common mistakes
  • Spending pearls on dyes / ring before the full Raiments set
  • Hoarding only one point type and then being unable to search rewards
  • Entering portals with empty pouches
  • Comparing GotR GP/hr to blood rune crafting before you have the outfit
  • Banking on the pet or needle for "average" profit
