How the odds are calculated

Boss and activity pets are almost always a flat 1/N per kill, reward roll, or completion. Skilling pets (and Mr McGroot) use the wiki formula 1/(B − level×25). Temporary boosts do not help. At 200m XP in the matching skill you are 15× more likely: the tool divides the final 1/X by 15. That matches wiki figures such as Quetzin 1/1,000 → 1/67 and Mr McGroot at 99 Hunter ≈ 1/2,501 with 200m.

FAQ

How do OSRS pet odds work?
Each kill or action is an independent 1/N roll. After K actions the chance of at least one pet is 1 − (1 − 1/N)^K. At the expected kill count you are only about 63% likely to have seen it. The calculator also shows how dry you are (percent of hunters still empty-handed).

How do skilling pet rates and 200m XP work?
