Complete Fletching Guide
Fletching Methods Overview
Fletching offers 7 main categories of training methods:
- •Bows: Mediocre XP rates but small profits. Stringing best bows to 99 profits ~13.6M over 60 hours.
- •Darts: Highest XP rates in game (fastest 99 record uses darts). Expensive but worth it.
- •Bolts: Very high XP rates, often cheaper than darts. Can be done while training other skills.
- •Arrows: Fast method with semi-AFK potential. Low-cost option for decent XP.
- •Javelins: Fast and semi-AFK. Low trade volumes, only Dragon javelins worth making.
- •Gem-tipped bolts: Decent XP with profitable potential (Ruby, Diamond, Dragonstone, Onyx).
- •Weapons: Blowpipe, crossbows, ballistas - highly profitable but require patience and capital.
Passive Fletching Training
Fletching can be trained passively while doing other activities - the most efficient way to level:
- •Agility: Fletch bolts/darts between obstacles
- •Hunter: Fletch during trap placement waiting time
- •Farming: Fletch darts/bolts while running between patches
- •Wintertodt: Fletch between games
- •Quests/Achievement Diaries: Fletch while running around
Low Level Training (1-35)
Focus on fast XP to get to profitable methods quickly:
- •Bronze Arrows: 55k XP/hr. Buy headless arrows + bronze tips, combine in sets of 15.
- •Headless Arrows: 45k XP/hr, profitable. Make from feathers + arrow shafts.
- •Arrow Shafts: Slow but AFK. Only if woodcutting logs yourself.
- •Quests: Animal Magnetism + Zogre Flesh Eaters + Temple of Ikov = 1-28 Fletching.
Fastest Methods (35-99)
Fastest 99: 6-8 hours, costs 287M. Uses darts with Windows mouse keys:
- •Darts: Highest XP rates. Use mouse keys for speed. Mithril darts (110M to 99) or Amethyst (cheaper alternative).
- •Bolts: Similar to darts but slower. Cheaper, can multitask. Broad bolts popular.
- •Arrows: Semi-AFK, 100k+ XP/hr from level 15. Steel/Amethyst arrows cheap. Avoid Adamant/Rune.
- •Javelins: Similar to arrows. Only Dragon javelins worth it (82M from 92-99).
Windows Mouse Keys Setup: Enable in settings, use keypad (4/8/2/6 move, 5 click). Hold control for faster movement.
AFK Methods
For when you want to multitask:
- •Bows: Cut logs into bows, then string. Magic longbows main XP source from 40. 60 hours to 99.
- •Battle Staves: Cut celastrus bark. High XP but loss per bark.
- •Antler Bolts: Low XP but currently profitable. Use chisel on antlers.
- •Arrows/Javelins: 12-second AFK intervals. Good for watching shows.
