How to interpret GP/hr
GP/hr is simply your session's net profit normalized to one hour. For a reliable comparison between methods calculate net profit (total loot/sales minus supplies and losses) and divide by hours played.
What to include
- Supplies: potions, food, teleport costs and repair fees — record them separately (see the Item Database to price supplies).
- Time: include banking, travel, and time spent setting up — not just combat/skilling time.
- Losses: deaths or broken items should be subtracted from profit.
- RNG: loot variance can skew short sessions — average multiple runs for stability.
Quick method
- Record: GP gained, supplies cost, minutes played, and any death losses.
- Compute net profit = GP gained − supplies − death losses.
- Normalize: GP/hr = net profit ÷ (minutes / 60).
- Repeat across several sessions (5+) and use the median or mean to compare methods.
Tips
- Use the example presets to seed common benchmarks quickly.
- Compare GP/hr alongside XP/hr for skilling methods to weigh profit vs progression.
