How is herb yield calculated?

Expected yield uses the OSRS Farming chance-to-save formula from the wiki: harvest lives (3 + compost bonus) divided by (1 − chance to save a life). Magic secateurs (+10%), farming cape (+5%), Attas (+5%), and diary boosts increase that chance.

How many herb patches are there?

Up to 10: Falador, Catherby, Ardougne, Port Phasmatys, Hosidius, Farming Guild, Trollheim, Weiss, Harmony Island, and Civitas illa Fortis. Disease-free patches never die; diary patches get a yield bonus.
