Prayer Training Methods
Overview of common methods and tradeoffs
There are several ways to train Prayer in OSRS — they trade off speed, cost, and convenience.
- Burying bones — cheapest and simplest. No setup required, but gives the lowest XP/hour.
- Gilded Altar (Player-owned House) — one of the most popular methods. With burners lit it provides a large XP multiplier (commonly used with dragon or superior dragon bones for fast XP).
- Chaos Altar (Wilderness) — similar XP multipliers to gilded altars, but has a chance to not consume bones. Risky since it is in the Wilderness.
- Ectofuntus — historically high XP for certain methods; requires extra setup (bones to prayer item conversion) and is slower in raw convenience.
- Ensouled heads / reanimation — alternative training that can be profitable with the right setup; useful if you already have heads from slayer tasks.
Use the calculator above to compare exact XP, bones needed, and GP cost for your chosen combination of bone type and training method.
