What “shop hop” means here

Fixed-price specialty shops undercut the Grand Exchange when demand is high. You buy a world’s stock, hop, buy again, then dump on the GE. This page is for those buy-from-NPC methods — not selling junk to general stores, and not Ali’s Discount markup tables. Profit uses live wiki GE mid with the 2% GE tax applied, then subtracts the shop price (and unpacks packs into rune / feather counts).

Death runes

The classic AFK hop. Aubury, Betty, Magic Guild, Baba Yaga, Lundail, Void Knights, Thyria, and Amlodd all sell deaths at 180 gp with 250 stock. Cam Torum and Abyss-unlocked Battle Runes double that to 500. Restock is slow enough that world hopping beats waiting on one shop. When barrage metas cool off and GE mid after tax slips under 180, the whole method flips red — that is normal, not a calculator bug.

Chaos packs & feathers

Chaos rune packs are 9,950 gp for 100 chaos at the usual magic shops (plus Cam Torum / Tal Teklan). Open the pack and sell the runes. Feather packs start at 200 gp for 100 feathers; buy about ten per world so the 1–2 gp price climb does not erase your margin. Fishing Guild has a bigger shelf than Gerrant, but the same “ten then hop” habit applies. Fremennik / Ava shops that start at 260 gp are skipped on purpose.

Battlestaves — hop vs diary

Magic Guild, Baba Yaga, Elgan, and Zaff’s normal counter stock five staves at 7,000 and can be hopped. The Varrock Diary barrel is the daily noted buy (15 to 120) — same price, no hopping, once per day. Do the barrel on every account that has the diary done; use hop shops only while GE mid after tax still clears 7k.

Charter ships & Varlamore

Trader Stan sells soda ash (10 × 5 gp), seaweed (20 × 5 gp), and buckets of sand on every charter. Port Khazard and Corsair Cove are the bank-friendly hops; every other charter shares the same stock table. At the Hunter Guild, Pellem’s mixed hide bases (10 from 11,700 with a 2% rise) and jaguar fur (2 stock) are the Varlamore hop lines — stop mid-shelf when the rising shop price crosses GE.

FAQ

When are death rune shop hops worth it?

Most magic shops sell deaths at 180 gp with 250 stock (Cam Torum and Abyss Battle Runes hold 500). Profit per rune is GE mid after 2% tax minus 180. If that is ≤ 0 the row flips to “not worth it.” Restock is about one rune every nine seconds, so hopping worlds is how you keep buying full stacks.

Which death shops should I prioritise?

Cam Torum’s Runic Emporium and Abyss-unlocked Battle Runes for 500 stock, then Magic Guild / Aubury / Betty / Lunar / Void / Arceuus / Prif at 250. Skip Ape Atoll and Durrik’s overpriced stock. Pick the shop you can teleport to fastest — hop time beats a slightly bigger stack you walk to.

Is Zaff’s battlestaff barrel a hop method?

No. The Varrock Diary barrel is once per day (15/30/60/120 noted staves at 7,000 for Easy–Elite). Magic Guild, Baba Yaga, Elgan, and Zaff’s normal counter stock of five staves are the hoppable versions.

How do feather packs work?

Gerrant, Fishing Guild, Fernahei, Shantay, and several Varlamore / sailing fish shops sell packs starting at 200 gp. Buy about ten packs per world (~209 gp average) then hop — buying the whole shelf makes the price climb and kills margin. Gerrant shares stock with Lovecraft’s Tackle, so those two are not separate hop sources.

Are charter ships (soda ash) still a thing?

Trader Stan stocks 10 soda ash at 5 gp on every charter, restocking every minute. Port Khazard and Corsair Cove are the usual bank hops. Seaweed and buckets of sand sit in the same shop. Margins are tiny per item — you make money on volume and low effort, not per-click jackpots.

What about mixed hide bases at the Hunter Guild?

Pellem stocks 10 mixed hide bases from 11,700 gp with a 2% price rise per purchase. The calculator shows base-price trip profit as a ceiling — stop buying on a world once the shop price crosses live GE mid after tax.
